Good websites come in various shapes and sizes with all sort of components depending on your requirements. Here are some of the key points to bear in mind:

Static websites are the easiest and cheapest to develop. They consist of a number of fixed content pages linked together and are a good starting point for any organisation.

Content Management Systems can form the basis of websites where you want to be able to alter the content yourselves without having to get us to change the static pages for you. Some CMS sites start at a very high price, but at talkingdesign we have a superb product that provides good CMS facilities for just a few hundred pounds. If you want to change your content, this may be a better route than a static site.

Flash movies and other animations can add movement and interest to your website. However, we recommend that the use of such techniques is controlled - most people go onto your website for information, not entertainment!

E-commerce is where you can operate your sales on the web without involvement from your staff - it's a way you can start an entirely new side to your business without adding a single member of staff!

Hosting and domain names It's quite important to own a domain name that demonstrates your stature in the market place; we are happy to research and obtain domain names on your behalf. In addition, you will need your website hosted, and probably want email as well. We know that you need performance and resilience from your ISP, and that's a lot more important than the annual fee! We only provide a quality service, and so you will always be able to find someone cheaper, but you'll probably find out why later.

If you already have an ISP who hosts your site, we will need details to be able to update your site. Should you wish to transfer your hosting to us, please be aware that you will need to obtain a release code from your existing provider to transfer the DNS pointers etc to ourselves.
